Errors and minimal offense killed the Thunderbirds Tuesday night in a makeup game at Graham field where the Thunderbirds fell to the Astros 4-2. Brent Smerczynski took the loss despite no earned runs and 7 Ks. The birds look to shake this off and finish strong against the Spirits to finish the season.

Jody Nicewonger, Brent Smerczynski, Brad Bode, Brian Synatzske, Fabian Mendive and Bodie Wilson all chipped in via the plate, on the mound or in the field to help the East All-Stars over the West 5-2 Sunday at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. The East squad was compiled of Thunderbirds, Spirits, Dodgers & Royals.

Nicewonger saved a run on by throwing a rope to the catcher to on an attempted sacrifice fly in the 1st inning. Smerczynski and Wilson each threw scoreless innings to their personal catchers Bode & Mendive. Synatzske singled in the bottom of the 6th to load the bases down 2-0 before scoring the eventual winning run on a bases clearing double by one of the Royals All-stars. The East tagged on 2 more before wrapping up the win. Teams with Brewers/Thunderbird All-Stars have now won the last 4 All-Star Games.

The Thunderbirds couldn’t shake off a 5 run first by the Spirits and ultimately fell 7-5 Thursday night at Graham Field. Brad Bode started and was relieved on the mound by Brent Smerczynski (4 innings, 2 runs & 7 Ks and Bodie Wilson ( 1 inning, 0 runs, 1K). Wilson led the T-birds at the plate with 2 hits a walk and a run scored, while Jody Nicewonger had a hit and 2 RBIs.

Shaky defense and timely hits by the Astros lead to another Thunderbird tie despite great hitting performances by several Thunderbirds. Jody Nicewonger was a beast at the plate gathering 4 hits and 2 runs batted in while Brian Synatzske had a 2 run single, RBI double 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Dan Bailey added a 2 run triple. Other Birds collecting hits included Brent Smerczynksi, Brad Bode, Fabian Mendive, Nathan Larmon and Jeff Whanger. Mason Gann walked twice and scored 2 runs.

Thunderbirds look to put these last 2 mediocre performances as a whole behind them next week when they face the Dodgers and some familiar faces at McInnish Park
