Birds fall 10-4

It was a rough night for the Thunderbirds as they fell to Modoc 10-4. The birds squandered scoring opportunities leaving 7 men on base while Modoc capitalized each time they had men on base.

Brent Smerczynski took the loss for the birds going the first 5 innings and Sean House finished the night with an inning of relief in the 6th.

Dustin Harrison and Kevin Faught led the birds with two hits apiece with Faught collecting 2 RBIs. Smerczynski added a 2 run single while John Menth, Marc Boggio, Ryan Karonka and House also collected hits on the night.

The NTX Thunderbirds look to get back in the win column next Thursday as they take on the Pelicans for an 8:45pm contest at McInnish #11

Your NTX Thunderbirds used a steady barrage of offense to cruise past the Roughriders 16-5 Thursday night.

Dustin Harrison led the birds on the mound and the plate throwing 4 innings to get W and collecting 3 hits and 4 RBIs at the plate. John Menth picked up 3Ks in his inning of relief.

John Menth and Ron Short each had 2 hits on the night while Cliff Brade, Brent Smerczynski, Marc Boggio and Bodie Wilson also collected hits on the night.

The Thunderbirds take on the Modoc next week in a battle of the undefeated league leaders. The contest will be held at Oran Good Park in Farmers Branch at 6:30pm

Everything was going the Thunderbirds way and the offense was electric as they exploded for 24 runs on 24 hits Thursday night against the Pelicans.

The Thunderbird offense scored 4 runs in the first , 15 in the second, 4 in the third and 1 in the fourth as every player had at least 1 hit, a run scored and a run driven in on the night. John Menth led the attack with a 4 for5 performance with 3 runs scored and 5 runs batted in. Rob Carroll, Marc Boggio and Bodie Wilson each had 3 hits and and Brent Smerczynski, Dustin Harrison, Don Massoud, Jeff Whanger and Ryan Karonka each had 2 hits. Jody Nicewonger added an RBI single with a run scored for the birds as well

Smerczynski picked up his 2nd win of the year for the Thunderbirds throw the first 3 innings , walking none and striking out one. Wilson and Boggio each threw a scoreless inning of relief, giving up no hits and striking out 2 and 1 respectively.

Thunderbirds drill Pelicans 12-1

Your NTX Thunderbirds started the 2022 season off with a bang by beating the Oak Cliff Pelicans 12 to 1 Thursday night.

The offense was relentless jumping out to 3 runs in the first, 1 in the second, 2 in the third and 6 in the fourth inning to put away the Pelicans. John Menth led the birds with three hits including a triple and three RBIs while Brent Smerczynski added two hits and two RBIs on the night. Marc Boggio and Don Massoud each also added 2-run doubles.

Smerczynski picked up his first win of the season giving up 1 earned run and striking out 4. Bodie Wilson came on for the Thunderbirds to get to save going two stellar innings in relief while only giving up one hit and striking out 4 as well.

Other Thunderbirds collecting hits on the night include: Dustin Harrison, Ryan Karonka, Wilson, Ron Short and Jody Nicewonger.

Your NTX Thunderbirds return to action next Thursday, March 17 for a 630 contest at McInnish #10 against the Roughriders

Your NTX Thunderbirds head to the Championship Series after pulling out a hard fought 6-3 over the Modoc Thursday night at McInnish Park.

Sean House started on the mound going the first 3 1/3 innings but left after Modoc scratched across 3 runs in the 4th to take a 3-0 lead. Brent Smerczynski got the win for the Thunderbirds relieving House in the 4th and finishing the game holding Modoc scoreless while collecting 3 strikeouts.

After falling behind 3-0, Bo Vaculik started the comeback with a one out single. The birds pushed across their first run after a Jeff Whanger HBP, a groundout and 2 more HBP by Ryan Karonka and John Menth. That set the stage for Dustin Harrison, who promptly laced a bases clearing 3 run double to the fence in left center to give the Thunderbirds the 4-3 lead. 2 insurance runs were added in the 6th and 7th when Smerczynski scored on a wild pitch after working a leadoff walk and Karonka scored on a Don Massound sacrifice fly after leading off the 7th with a single to right. Other Thunderbirds collecting hits include Cliff Brade and Rob Carroll.

The Thunderbirds will face Monday’s Modoc/Pelicans winner Thursday night at First Baptist at 6:30pm
