Birds steamroll Roughriders 24-0

Solid pitching and a relentless offensive led the Thunderbirds to an easy 24-0 victory Thursday night. The win moves to birds to 5-1 on the season.

Brent Smerczynski got the win on the mound improving to 3-1 on the season. The lefty went 4 shutout innings only giving up 2 singles while striking out 3 and only allowing 1 baserunner to reach second base. Sean House threw a scoreless fifth to close out the night picking up 2 Ks of his own.

On offense, the Thunderbirds scored lone runs in the 1st and 2nd, then opened it up in the 4th with 8 runs to make it 10-0, then put the final nail in the coffin in the 5th inning scoring 14 runs. Rob Carroll and Bodie Wilson led the charge with 3 hits each with Carroll hitting his first homerun of the season in the 5th. Cliff Brade, House and newcomer Matt Allen each added 2 hits apiece while Smerczynski, Marc Boggio, and Don Massoud had hits on the night as well.

The Thunderbirds return to action next Thursday against Modoc for a 6:30pm contest at McInnish #11

Thunderbirds drown Pelicans 27-2

It was over before it started last night as the Thunderbirds scored 16 runs in the top of the 1st in route to a 27-2 drubbing of the Pelicans.

The Birds offensive onslaught came to the tune of 27 runs on 19 hits, 7 walks and 3 Pelican errors. John Menth and Don Massoud led the birds with 3 hits apiece while Marc Boggio, who hit a Homerun, Ryan Karonka, Bodie Wilson and Jared DeRusha each had 2 hits on the night. Other Thunderbirds collecting hits on the night included Rob Carrol, Dustin Harrison, Jeff Whanger, Ron Short and Jody Nicewonger. Every player scored at least one run on the night.

Wilson picked up the win on the mount for the Thunderbirds. He went 5 innings, giving up 2 earned on 6 hits while striking out 4.

The birds return to action next Thursday at Oran Good Park against the Roughriders at 6:3Opm

Birds fall 10-4

It was a rough night for the Thunderbirds as they fell to Modoc 10-4. The birds squandered scoring opportunities leaving 7 men on base while Modoc capitalized each time they had men on base.

Brent Smerczynski took the loss for the birds going the first 5 innings and Sean House finished the night with an inning of relief in the 6th.

Dustin Harrison and Kevin Faught led the birds with two hits apiece with Faught collecting 2 RBIs. Smerczynski added a 2 run single while John Menth, Marc Boggio, Ryan Karonka and House also collected hits on the night.

The NTX Thunderbirds look to get back in the win column next Thursday as they take on the Pelicans for an 8:45pm contest at McInnish #11

Your NTX Thunderbirds used a steady barrage of offense to cruise past the Roughriders 16-5 Thursday night.

Dustin Harrison led the birds on the mound and the plate throwing 4 innings to get W and collecting 3 hits and 4 RBIs at the plate. John Menth picked up 3Ks in his inning of relief.

John Menth and Ron Short each had 2 hits on the night while Cliff Brade, Brent Smerczynski, Marc Boggio and Bodie Wilson also collected hits on the night.

The Thunderbirds take on the Modoc next week in a battle of the undefeated league leaders. The contest will be held at Oran Good Park in Farmers Branch at 6:30pm

Everything was going the Thunderbirds way and the offense was electric as they exploded for 24 runs on 24 hits Thursday night against the Pelicans.

The Thunderbird offense scored 4 runs in the first , 15 in the second, 4 in the third and 1 in the fourth as every player had at least 1 hit, a run scored and a run driven in on the night. John Menth led the attack with a 4 for5 performance with 3 runs scored and 5 runs batted in. Rob Carroll, Marc Boggio and Bodie Wilson each had 3 hits and and Brent Smerczynski, Dustin Harrison, Don Massoud, Jeff Whanger and Ryan Karonka each had 2 hits. Jody Nicewonger added an RBI single with a run scored for the birds as well

Smerczynski picked up his 2nd win of the year for the Thunderbirds throw the first 3 innings , walking none and striking out one. Wilson and Boggio each threw a scoreless inning of relief, giving up no hits and striking out 2 and 1 respectively.
